How to Read a Breast MRI Report Card

Breast MRI report card can be read through the image, the time-signal curve of the lesion, and the BI-RADS grading of these three aspects. 1. Look at the image, breast MRI includes T1 and T2, T1 looks at the anatomical structure of the breast, and to understand the lesion, we should start from T2, T2 can exclude the fat tissue, and can clearly observe the boundary, size and morphology of the lesion, and if the T2 signal is uniformly distributed, the lesion will be mostly benign, and on the contrary, it will be mostly considered as malignant lesion. 2. Look at the time-signal curve of the lesion, there are three types of lesions: continuous rising type, fast-in-fast-out type and platform type; continuous rising type is characterized by the curve rising continuously in the early and middle stages and rising slowly in the late stage, which is more likely to be considered as benign lesions; fast-in-fast-out type is characterized by the curve rising rapidly in the early stage and dropping gradually in the middle and late stages, which is more likely to be considered as malignant lesions; and platform type is characterized by the curve rising rapidly in the early stage and stabilizing at the peak in the middle and late stage, which is between the first two, and needs to be biopsied. In between the two, biopsy is needed. 3. Look at the BI-RADS classification, there are 7 grades, the higher the grade, the greater the possibility of malignant lesions, grade 0: can not be judged from the MRI image, need to be combined with the examination, history and other diagnostic; grade 1: suggests normal; grade 2: suggests a lobular hyperplasia; grade 3: the possibility of benign lesions; grade 4: classified into 4a (malignant possibility <10%), 4b (malignant possibility of 10% - 50%), 4c (> 50%) three; grade 5: classified into 4a (<10%), 4b (10% - 50%), 4c (> 50%). 50%); Grade 5: clinically diagnosable as malignant lesions; Grade 6: pathologic biopsy has confirmed malignant lesions. Reading the MRI report belongs to the professional ability, with a certain degree of difficulty, it is recommended to appear in a timely manner to the regular hospital, by the professional doctor to make judgments, so as not to delay the condition.
