Is endoscopy-assisted minimally invasive thyroid surgery reliable?

The 5-8 cm incision in the neck of traditional thyroid surgery has become increasingly unacceptable aesthetically for young and middle-aged women who have a high prevalence of thyroid disease. Endoscopic-assisted thyroidectomy is a surgical technique created by Miccoli in Italy in 1997. The basic surgical approach is to complete thyroidectomy with endoscopic assistance through a small incision in the neck. We applied the technique and modified it to make the procedure more widely available and to benefit more female patients. Our department was the first in the province to perform endoscopic-assisted small incision thyroid surgery with a 1.5cm-3.5cm neck incision from 2005. Surgical incision design Postoperative month
