Tummy pain when pressed is not necessarily cancer, because there are more diseases that cause abdominal (i.e. tummy) pain when pressed, such as functional abdominal distension, constipation, functional abdominal pain, functional dyspepsia and other internal diseases, as well as intestinal obstruction, intussusception, appendicitis, pancreatitis, peritonitis and other related diseases, which can also lead to the appearance of abdominal pain when pressed. When these diseases cause abdominal pain in children or adult patients, the pain may also worsen with localized pressure. Relevant imaging tests, such as abdominal ultrasound or CT of the abdominal wall, can be performed to understand the specific type of disease and specific treatment can be given to solve the patient’s problem. Cancers of the abdomen that invade the peritoneum may also present with pain on pressure. If the solid tumor in the abdomen is relatively small and the invasion is not extensive, the abdominal pressing pain will not occur. Only if the cancer in the abdomen is relatively large, which causes local inflammation and involves the peritoneum, the obvious pressing pain will occur. However, CT examination or ultrasonography of the abdomen can be used to find out whether there is any possibility of cancer, and if necessary, the problem can be solved by surgical means.
