Liver Function 5 and Liver Function 6 are both indicators used to evaluate the current status of liver function. The five liver function tests are alanine aminotransferase (AAT), glutamine aminotransferase (GAT), direct bilirubin (DB), indirect bilirubin (IB), and total bilirubin (TB). AAT and GBT are mainly found in the hepatocytes and are used to evaluate whether there is an acute injury to liver function. Direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, and total bilirubin are used to comprehensively evaluate the source of elevated bilirubin and to determine whether the lesion is of hepatic or nonhepatic origin. The six liver function tests have more albumin than the five liver function tests. Albumin is mainly produced by hepatocytes and evaluates whether the patient’s hepatocyte function is damaged. When patients want to know the function of the liver, it is recommended to take the six liver function tests to have a more comprehensive understanding of the state of the liver.
