Low-grade endometrial mesenchymal sarcoma stage 1 is relatively mild compared to other types of uterine sarcoma.
Low-grade endometrial mesenchymal sarcoma is a rare malignant tumor, which usually does not show necrosis or only mild necrosis when tests are done, and lymphatic and pulmonary metastases rarely occur. Although classified as a malignant tumor, it is low-grade and has a late recurrence time compared to other tumors, mostly recurring after an average of 5 years of initial treatment.
Low-grade endometrial mesenchymal sarcoma stage 1 indicates that the tumor is confined to the body of the uterus, and if the tumor is ≤5 cm, it is stage Ia.
If the tumor is >5 cm, it is stage Ib and is primarily treated surgically with an extrafascial hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy, which should involve complete resection and removal of the uterus, lymph node dissection if necessary, and postoperative radiation or chemotherapy may be required to improve outcomes.
If the diagnosis of low-grade endometrial mesenchymal sarcoma stage 1 is confirmed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
