Four Gentlemen Soup is a prescription composed of ginseng, atractylodes, poria, licorice and other herbs, with the effect of benefiting qi and strengthening the spleen, and can be used to treat qi deficiency of the spleen and stomach. Symptoms include pale complexion, low voice, shortness of breath, and loose stools (scanty and unformed feces). Radix Panax Ginseng is sweet, slightly bitter and cool in nature, with the effects of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, clearing heat and promoting generation of body fluid. It is effective in treating qi deficiency and yin deficiency, deficiency heat and tiredness, coughing, wheezing, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as excessive eating, drinking and urinating), and dryness of mouth and pharynx. This product is cold in nature and can injure yang and help dampness, so it should not be taken by people with weakened yang in the middle and cold dampness in the stomach, and it should not be used with quinoa. Sijunzi Tang and Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng involve different medicines, targeting different diseases and their efficacy, so Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng cannot be used to replace Sijunzi Tang.
