Compared with traditional surgery, laparoscopic radical rectal cancer surgery (TME) has the following advantages: (1) small abdominal incision; (2) less interference with abdominal organs, especially the gastrointestinal tract, clearer exposure of the pelvic cavity, and less bleeding; (3) less postoperative pain; (4) less chance of postoperative intestinal adhesions; (5) faster postoperative recovery (gastrointestinal tract function and systemic recovery); (6) significantly shorter hospital stay, allowing patients to resume daily work more quickly.
