How long does it take for a vestibular neuron to heal itself

Vestibular neuronitis, can resolve spontaneously 7-10 days after onset. It is a benign condition that is associated with viral infections in most patients, and may be preceded by a history of fever, upper respiratory tract infection, or urinary tract infection; common viruses are mumps virus, measles virus, and herpes zoster virus. Patients usually occur between the ages of 25-55 years and have an acute onset of illness, which may be characterized by sudden onset of vertigo, nausea, vomiting, or persistent nystagmus without deafness, tinnitus, balance disorders, or ataxia. Vertigo symptoms worsen when the head position is rotated, and in most patients the condition peaks a few hours to a few days after the onset of the disease, and may then gradually decrease in symptoms. Symptomatic treatment can also be given if the patient has severe symptoms, either by intramuscular injection of scopolamine, or by oral administration of vertigo stop and pethidine, or by small doses of hormonal therapy, commonly used drugs include prednisone and dexamethasone, to name a few.
