Yellow essence can be directly dried and used, but the medication is usually decoction soup, such as internal use.
Yellow essence is dried rhizome into medicine, in the spring, fall, digging, remove the roots, wash, put in boiling water slightly scalded, or steamed to the heart, dry. Huang Jing is used as a decoction to be taken internally, or made into pills or powder to be taken, or boiled to be taken as an ointment.
Huang Jing is effective in strengthening the spleen, moistening the lungs, tonifying qi, nourishing yin, and benefiting the kidneys. It is mainly used for treating deficiency of spleen and stomach qi, deficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), tiredness and fatigue, poor appetite and dry mouth, coughing up blood due to labor, coughing up blood due to lung deficiency, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, deficiency of essence and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms of overeating, excessive drinking, and excessive urination), and premature whitening of the beard and hair.
