Macular degeneration refers to the lesions occurring in the macular area of the retina, such as traumatic macular laceration in children, macular precursor, central plasma choroidal retinopathy, etc. It may heal on its own, but not in severe cases, and age-related macular degeneration will not heal on its own.
1. Traumatic macular laceration in children: If traumatic macular laceration exists in children, there is a possibility of self-healing within 4 months. If it is more than 4 months, it is very difficult to heal by itself.
2. Pre-macular membrane: If there is a pre-macular membrane, it feels like there is a white mist in front of the eyes, and a few of them can be self-healed. If the pre-macular membrane continues to develop and become thicker, resulting in vision loss and distortion of vision, it cannot be cured by itself.
3. Centralized plasma choroidal retinopathy: If young people suffer from centralized plasma choroidal retinopathy, it may heal on its own, but it takes a longer time to heal on its own, about 3 to 6 months. During this time, macular atrophy is not completely ruled out. Therefore, young people with MMP should be treated promptly to reduce the possibility of its recurrence.
4. Age-related macular degeneration: Age-related macular degeneration belongs to degenerative diseases, which can be categorized into dry and wet age-related macular degeneration, etc., and it will not heal by itself.
If you have macular degeneration, it is recommended to combine with the diagnostic advice of professional doctors to determine whether treatment is needed to avoid delaying the condition.
