Adenosine diphosphate is an important chemical in the body that is involved in metabolism, as well as in inducing platelet aggregation and participating in the clotting mechanism. When adenosine diphosphate is elevated, the patient’s clotting mechanism is enhanced and the patient may be at risk for blood clots and may also be indicating an abnormal bone marrow hematopoiesis. The presence of high ATP in a pregnant woman who has had an esophagus or a normal pregnancy is not an indication that it will cause a stoppage and should not be overstressed. Systematic examination is recommended, followed by symptomatic treatment.
