The causes of swollen hands and face are considered to be related to physiological and pathological factors, such as pregnancy, hypoproteinemia, heart failure and so on.
1. Physiological factors: for pregnant women, especially in late pregnancy, there will be swelling of legs, feet, hands, face, mainly because of the increase in blood flow during pregnancy, in the case of venous reflux obstruction, the increase in body fluids will accumulate in the body, which in turn produces swelling of the hands and face, generally without treatment.
2. Pathologic factors.
(1) Hypoproteinemia: If the patient has hypoproteinemia, it may be due to the decrease of plasma albumin and the decrease of effective osmotic pressure, so it will make the tissues retain too much water, and then produce the phenomenon of hand and face swelling.
(2) Heart failure: If the patient has heart failure, it may be due to the impaired ventricular diastolic function and pumping function of the heart, coupled with the symptoms of oliguria caused by renal damage, which can easily lead to water retention in the body, resulting in swelling of the feet, legs, and hands and face.
There are other causes of hand and face edema, so we suggest that patients should go to the hospital and cooperate with the doctor to clarify the causes before treatment.
