When to measure blood pressure accurately

Measurement of blood pressure is usually done between 6-8 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. for relative accuracy. Before measuring blood pressure, the subject should avoid smoking, drinking coffee and strenuous exercise for half an hour, and rest in a quiet environment for more than 5 minutes to avoid an increase in blood pressure. When measuring, arm muscles are relaxed, do not clench your fists, elbow is at the same level as the heart, cuff is tight to the skin, and taping and elasticity are moderate. Choosing the best time for measurement as well as mastering the correct method of blood pressure measurement is especially important for hypertensive patients and helps to adjust the use of antihypertensive drugs. When abnormal blood pressure occurs, it is necessary to consult a doctor in a timely manner and take active treatment according to the doctor’s recommendations.
