How much low platelets can treat periodontitis

Platelets can only be treated for periodontitis after they are normal, and low platelets generally cannot treat periodontitis.

1. Because periodontitis patients in brushing or eating, it is easy to cause bleeding gums, if the platelets are low, poor coagulation function, over time will trigger anemia. Although low platelets for drug therapy (antibiotic therapy such as doxycycline, metronidazole, amoxicillin, etc.) generally have little effect, but periodontitis patients with bleeding gums if not well controlled, directly affecting the therapeutic effect.

2. Surgical treatment: After drug treatment, there are still periodontal pockets larger than 5mm, and there is still bleeding on examination, surgical treatment can be considered. Before treatment, blood routine should be checked, and anti-infection treatment should be carried out for those who are infected; for those with low platelets, platelets should be treated to the normal value range first, so as not to cause bleeding in the perioperative period.

If patients with periodontitis have low platelet test results, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time, with the help of targeted treatment.
