Who can be considered for single-port laparoscopic surgery

The single-port laparoscopic surgery is a combination of treatment and aesthetics, with no obvious scarring while contacting the disease. It is suitable for young women, people with high quality of life requirements, and especially people with special occupations (such as dancers, models, etc.) to perform single-port laparoscopic surgery for abdominal diseases. In addition, scarred individuals also have a significant febrile advantage in performing single-port laparoscopic surgery. However, uniportal laparoscopy also has its indications, such as those who cannot tolerate general anesthesia, those who are in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate pneumoperitoneum, those with a history of previous abdominal surgery, those with heavy abdominal adhesions, and those with malignant tumors are not suitable for this procedure. Mild obesity is not a significant contraindication to this procedure, but excessive obesity may affect the successful performance of single-port laparoscopic surgery. The figure below shows the surgical scar before stitches are removed after surgery. After stitches are removed, there is no obvious scar, the scar is hidden in the umbilicus, and single-port laparoscopic surgery is feasible in patients with slim and obese body types.
