A positive T-cell test for tuberculous pleurisy indicates the presence of tuberculosis infection, but does not determine whether it is an active infection or a carrier state. Compared with the traditional Mycobacterium tuberculosis test, the T-cell-based gamma interferon release test, which has been more widely used in clinical practice in recent years because of its higher specificity and sensitivity, can determine the presence of tuberculosis infection in the organism through the measurement of interferon secreted by T-cells sensitive to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The test is indicated as an aid in the diagnosis of active tuberculosis, extrapulmonary tuberculosis, tuberculous pleurisy, and other tuberculous infections, but is not to be used alone as a test standard. The positive result of T-cell test for tuberculosis infection is not significant, and should be analyzed in combination with the patient’s own symptoms and other indicators such as imaging tests. It is recommended that the patient go to a regular hospital in time and listen to the advice of a professional doctor.
