What to do about abrasions

Abrasions can be treated with saline wash followed by iodophor sterilizing exposure. Typically, abrasions occur when the skin is damaged by friction from an accidental fall while playing sports. The skin may develop hematomas, bruises, and bleeding. If the abrasion is shallow and the traumatized surface is clean and small, wiping with iodophor or alcohol on the wound and surrounding skin is sufficient. When there is a contaminant in the wound, it should be rinsed with saline, and after it is rinsed clean, it should be sterilized with alcohol or iodine povidone, and some antibacterial ointment can be applied. Wound treatment after abrasion should be kept dry and exposure therapy is recommended. If there is no redness, swelling, pain and other signs of inflammation, the wound gradually scabs over and improves. When the wound heals poorly, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time to avoid delaying the condition.
