Facial paralysis is called facial nerve palsy in western medicine, and can be treated with medication, physical therapy, and rehabilitation training.
1. Medication: Early stage of facial nerve palsy may consider using anti-inflammatory treatment such as glucocorticoid (e.g. prednisolone), and B vitamins (e.g. methylcobalamin, vitamin B1) and drugs to improve circulation (e.g. prostaglandin).
2. Physiotherapy: Commonly used physiotherapy includes ultrashort wave, laser, low and medium frequency electrotherapy, etc. Acupuncture and moxibustion can also be considered. Acupuncture and moxibustion can also be considered, mainly selecting facial points and distal points such as Yangbai, Sibai, Dicang, Cheek Che, Hegu, etc., but there are certain requirements for timing.
3. Rehabilitation training: Rehabilitation training can be carried out under the guidance of doctors, such as relying on the occipitofrontalis frontalis muscle frontal belly to complete the eyebrow raising training, relying on the contraction of orbicularis oculi muscle to complete the eye closing training, relying on the contraction of zygomaticus major and minor muscles, lifting the corners of the mouth muscles and the smiling muscles to complete the teeth movement, relying on the orbicularis oris to complete the nuzzle training, relying on the orbicularis oris and buccal muscles movement to complete the cheek training, and so on.
It is recommended that patients with facial nerve palsy complete the treatment and training under the guidance of a physician.
