There is one Liquid Gate point on the left hand and one on the right hand. Most of the acupuncture points are symmetrically distributed on the right and left sides of the body, and the Liquid Gate point is no exception. Liquid Gate is one of the commonly used acupoints for the Shaoyang Sanjiao of the hand, and is located on the back of the hand, between the 4th and 5th fingers, behind the edge of the web of the fingers, at the point of the red and white flesh margins (where the heart of the hand meets the dorsum of the hand, and the heart of the foot meets the dorsum of the foot). Liquid Gate acupoint is mainly used to treat head and face diseases such as headache, pharyngitis, ear disease, gingivitis, corneal leukoplakia, etc. It can also be used to treat malaria, spasm or pain of forearm muscles, hand and back pain, cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of shoulder joints, and mental disorders; and also has a certain therapeutic effect on dry mouth and thirst in the night. The needling method of Liquid Gate point is 0.3-0.5 inches straight, and localized distension and pain may appear after needling and spread to the back of the hand. Acupuncture should be carried out under the operation of a professional physician, and should not be done blindly by oneself to avoid adverse consequences.
