What is the white discharge from the baby’s ear?

White discharge from the ear of an infant may clinically manifest as a discharge after thinning of the earwax. In this case, during clinical examination, there is a white cerumen-like discharge in the ear canal, and the patient has an intact eardrum with no signs of ear canal congestion or ear canal swelling. Another possibility is that some patients have eczema of the external ear canal, when a white discharge from the ear is also possible. Some children have purulent otitis media, which may manifest as a white discharge when the otitis media and ear canal cerumen are mixed together and flow out. In this case, the patient will have repeated scratching of the ears, will show signs of upper respiratory infection, and will have clinical manifestations such as fever, headache, not in good condition, and discomfort with food. In this case, blood tests and CT of the middle ear mastoid will reveal a clear lesion. The clinical possibility of other diseases, such as exudation of a foreign body from the ear, cannot be excluded.
