Normal liver cancer alpha-fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen do not mean that you are well. Hepatocellular carcinoma alpha-fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen are the markers for checking tumor in human blood, and there are about twenty such markers in human body, and there are also neural specific enolase, prostate specific antigen (PSA), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) and so on. The specificity and sensitivity of these markers are generally 60%~80%, that is, there is a certain probability of suffering from cancer but the tumor markers are normal, so the indicators are normal does not necessarily mean that there is no tumor. For alpha-fetoprotein, it has high screening value for liver cancer, but only 85% specificity and sensitivity, so alpha-fetoprotein negative does not mean that liver cancer is cured. Similarly, negative carcinoembryonic antigen does not indicate that the cancer is cured. Therefore, patients should not take it lightly when their liver cancer alpha-fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen are normal, and they should follow the doctor’s instruction to continue to review the results on time. The efficacy of the cancer treatment and whether it is cured or not should be evaluated under the guidance of doctor, and the change of various indexes should be asked to the doctor in time.
