Patients with gallstones can get pregnant. If the patient’s gallstones have surgical indications, for example, the diameter of the stones inside the gallbladder is more than 3cm, or there is a history of chronic cholecystitis or acute cholecystitis, it is recommended to have the patient’s gallbladder removed or do biliary lithotripsy surgery before pregnancy. This is because during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, the patient may eat foods with too much fat, which may lead to biliary colic or even acute gallbladder inflammation. If the patient’s gallbladder stones are relatively small or do not have any symptoms, incipient gallbladder stones can be treated conservatively without surgery, and of course, pregnancy is also possible.
