Echo heterogeneity of the thyroid gland refers to the inconsistent density of the thyroid parenchyma. If the thyroid is not echogenic, it is more serious. This generally suggests that the thyroid gland is combined with certain lesions. Patients are advised to improve their thyroid function to clarify whether they have abnormal thyroid function. If the thyroid is simply unevenly echogenic and the thyroid function is normal, it is generally not very harmful. If there are changes in thyroid function, such as hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, it is important to decide how to treat the patient based on his or her clinical presentation. Generally, patients with hyperthyroidism will show symptoms of high metabolism such as panic, chest tightness, sweating all over the body, shaking hands and significant weight loss and thin stools. For such patients, anti-thyroid and anti-hyperthyroid drugs should be actively taken. For hypothyroid patients, if they have low metabolism such as generalized coldness, weakness, depression, and dry stools, they should be advised to take thyroid hormone support therapy such as eugenol. Therefore, different treatment plans are given depending on the type of disease.
