Treatment of lumbar swelling pain

Lumbar spine swelling, generally referred to as a herniated lumbar disc, can lead to low back pain and lower extremity pain and numbness. Commonly used treatment modalities include traction therapy, non-surgical treatment, medication, and surgical treatment.
1. Traction therapy: There are two types of traction therapy: fast traction and slow traction. By traction, the lumbar vertebrae increase the lumbar intervertebral space, relieve the pressure on the lumbar intervertebral discs, and make the protruding intervertebral discs partially retracted, so as to alleviate the pain in the lower back.
2. Non-surgical treatment: resting on a hard bed is the most important, simple and effective non-surgical treatment, which can reduce the pressure on the lumbar intervertebral discs, minimize the pressure on the nerve roots and spinal cord, and then relieve the pain.
3. Medication: Use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve pain, such as ibuprofen and celecoxib. The use of dehydrating agents to reduce nerve root edema, such as mannitol, can reduce the pressure on the nerve roots and spinal cord and relieve pain.
4. Surgery: If other treatments are ineffective, the nucleus pulposus of the herniated lumbar intervertebral disc can be surgically removed to relieve the pressure on the nerve roots and spinal cord, thus relieving pain. Commonly used surgeries include intervertebral foramenoscopy, discoscopy, and disc replacement.
In addition, physical therapy and exercise therapy are also ways to treat lumbar disc herniation. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time, and the doctor will give targeted treatment according to the degree of the disease.
