What is the meaning of subpleural irregular nodule in the upper lobe of the right lung?

Subpleural irregular nodules in the upper lobe of the right lung are generally defined as irregular nodular pulmonary solid lesions in the peripheral lung tissue of the right upper lobe of the lung, located relatively close to the pleura. It is commonly seen in inflammatory enlarged lymph nodes, post-infectious granuloma of the lungs or lung cancer. 1. Inflammatory enlarged lymph nodes: normal subpleural intrapulmonary lymph nodes do not show up on imaging, but they can show up when inflammation occurs, manifesting as irregular nodular shadows within 2cm from the pleura, with a diameter of no more than 1.2cm. 2. Inflammatory granuloma: it is formed by abnormal proliferation of lung tissue after infection and injury of lung tissue near the pleura, most of them are round nodules, and a few of them are irregular in shape. 3. Carcinoma nodules: subpleural lung cancer nodules are usually irregular in shape, lobulated or with burrs around. Subpleural irregular nodule in the upper lobe of the right lung is recommended to go to the Department of Thoracic Surgery or the Department of Respiratory Medicine for further consultation or diagnosis.
