Our Pediatric Blood Conference (1998) recommended that: In the neonatal period, hemoglobin <145g/L is considered anemia. January-April, hemoglobin <90g/L, as anemia. From April to June, hemoglobin <100g/L is anemia. 3.Grading of mild anemia in children: Mild anemia: Hemoglobin < lower limit of normal ~90g/L. Moderate anemia: Hemoglobin <90g/L-60g/L. Severe anemia: Hemoglobin <60g/L-30g/L. Very severe anemia: Hemoglobin <30g/L. 4.Grading of mild anemia in newborns Mild anemia: hemoglobin 120g/L-144g/L. Moderate anemia: hemoglobin <120g/L-90g/L. Severe anemia: hemoglobin <90g/L-60g/L. Very severe anemia: hemoglobin <60g/L.
