The generic name for piribedil tablets is piribedil extended-release tablets. If used as a monotherapy for Parkinson’s disease, it should be taken as 3 to 5 tablets per day in 3 to 5 divided doses; if used as a dopamine supplement, 1 to 3 tablets per day; if used in the treatment of diseases other than Parkinson’s disease, 1 tablet per day at the end of a regular meal, or 2 tablets per day at the end of each of the two regular meals for those with severe disease. Pibedil extended-release tablets are indicated for the adjunctive symptomatic treatment of cognitive and sensory neurological deficits in elderly patients; for the adjunctive treatment of intermittent claudication due to chronic obstructive arterial disease of the lower extremities; and for the treatment of ischemic symptoms in ophthalmology, Parkinson’s disease. The drug may cause such adverse reactions as nausea, vomiting, flatulence, drowsiness, psychological disorders, blood pressure disorders, allergic reactions. When using this drug, it should be noted that there are cases of drowsiness and sudden sleep in patients treated with piribedil, especially in Parkinson’s patients, and it is recommended that patients should not drive or operate machines during the period of treatment; this product contains sucrose, and should not be used by patients with intolerance to fructose, malabsorption of glucose or galactose, or insufficient sucrase-isomaltase enzyme. This drug is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to any of the components of the product, cardiovascular shock, acute stage of myocardial infarction. The drug is forbidden to be used in combination with antiemetic psychostatic drugs and tranquilizer psychostatic drugs.
