What to do about stable sporadic rectal cancer

Patients with stable sporadic rectal cancer should undergo individualized comprehensive treatment, and the main treatment modalities include endoscopic treatment, surgical treatment, and some patients can choose radiotherapy. Stable sporadic rectal cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the mucosal epithelium of the rectum, preferably at the junction of rectosigmoid colon and dentate line. Sporadic indicates that the patient has no genetic history, while stable type indicates that the rectal cancer is not easy to metastasize and infiltrate. 1. Endoscopic treatment: for stable sporadic rectal cancer, since the cancer is in early stage, endoscopic examination of polyp lesion and resection can be done directly, which can generally achieve better treatment effect. After resection, patients need nutritional supportive treatment, according to the nutritional absorption of patients and their height and weight, patients should be supplemented with appropriate amount of protein and electrolytes. 2. Surgery: the main treatment for rectal cancer is surgery, including open surgery, laparoscopic surgery, etc. Rectal cancer radical surgery, i.e. total mesorectal excision, is preferred, which can completely remove rectal cancer and surrounding lesions, with small trauma, fast recovery and few postoperative complications. 3. Radiotherapy: some patients who cannot tolerate surgery or have strong will to preserve anus can choose radiotherapy. Radiotherapy can help patients to obtain surgery and prevent tumor recurrence and metastasis. Chemotherapy regimen mainly consists of 5-fluorouracil, calcium folinate, capecitabine, etc., which can effectively shrink the rectal cancer mass and prolong the survival period of patients. Stable sporadic rectal cancer patients should clarify the treatment plan under the guidance of doctors and actively cooperate with them to avoid further deterioration of the condition.
