What to do if your gallbladder polyps are getting bigger

Gallbladder polyps are getting bigger and bigger need to be alert to malignant changes, need to go to the hospital in time to do surgery. At present, laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery is the first choice. Gallbladder polyps are mostly benign lesions, usually caused by abnormal cholesterol metabolism or chronic inflammation. Most of them have no clinical symptoms and are only detected during physical examination or abdominal ultrasound for other problems. Treatment of small polyps is usually based on observation, with regular six-month follow-up. If the polyp increases in size within a short period of time, we need to be vigilant for malignant changes and consider surgery to remove the gallbladder and then do a pathologic examination. Generally speaking, if the diameter of gallbladder polyp is more than 1cm, single polyp with a wide base, polyp located in the jugular abdomen of the gallbladder or gallbladder duct, and gallbladder polyp increases rapidly in a short period of time, surgery is recommended. During the conservative treatment of gallbladder polyps, you should eat a low cholesterol diet, drink more water to promote the body’s metabolism, and exercise moderately to enhance physical fitness. You also need to go to the hospital regularly for ultrasound to check the development of polyps.
