The treatment of hydronephrosis mainly depends on the causes of hydronephrosis, as follows: 1. Ureteral stones: actively carry out the treatment related to stone removal, which can be carried out by shock wave lithotripsy, holmium laser lithotripsy through ureteroscopy, and also through luminal lithotripsy surgery, and sometimes it can also be treated with lithotripsy drugs. When the stones are discharged, the patient’s hydronephrosis can be improved and reduced. However, it should be noted that some patients may still develop new kidney stones after stone treatment because their dietary habits have not changed; 2. Ureteral tumor: part of the hydronephrosis is caused by ureteral tumor, and active surgical treatment can be adopted for this part of the patients, which is usually full-length nephrectomy of the affected side of the kidney and ureter plus cystic sleeve resection.
