Hereditary hepatitis can cause splenomegaly how long will it take to get better

Hereditary hepatitis generally refers to babies who are born with hepatitis B, which is acquired through mother-to-child transmission, and there is no definitive time frame for how long it takes for the spleen to heal. If the splenomegaly is caused by acute hereditary hepatitis, it can basically return to normal in a few months, but if it is chronic hepatitis, it often means that the hepatitis has developed into cirrhosis, which is difficult to be cured completely. If it is acute hereditary hepatitis, it can be treated with appropriate antiviral drugs and liver-protecting drugs, such as polyenophosphatidylcholine injection and compound glycyrrhizin injection, and can usually return to normal in a few months. However, if the hepatitis is chronic, it is more difficult to treat, and basically it is hard to cure completely. Liver function can only be improved by liver-protecting medications, commonly used are silymarin capsules, bisacodyl tablets, etc. Antiviral drugs, such as entecavir, tenofovir, should be used for those with fibrous liver damage. Repeated episodes of liver inflammation can lead to necrosis of liver cells, which can cause fibrous tissue proliferation as well as portal hypertension. Over time, this can easily trigger an enlarged spleen. When splenomegaly occurs in patients with chronic hepatitis, it often indicates that cirrhosis has developed. If hypersplenism occurs, it can be treated by splenectomy or splenic artery embolization, but cirrhosis itself cannot be cured, and if it develops further there may be hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, hepatic failure, or even hepatocellular carcinoma, which requires artificial liver therapy or liver transplantation. Patients with hereditary hepatitis who develop splenomegaly should consult a doctor in time and be treated under the guidance of a physician to avoid delaying the condition. When using drugs, patients should strictly follow the doctor’s arrangements, never self-medication, and pay attention to diet, quit smoking and drinking, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and enhance physical fitness.
