How to recover from chronic lateral ankle instability 4-6 weeks after surgery?

The functional exercise phase is generally divided into 3-3-3 weeks according to the pattern of soft tissue healing. Phase 2: 4-6 weeks after surgery, this is still the immobilization phase, but you can perform passive ankle mobility exercises with the assistance of a therapist or family member depending on the results of the physician’s review: slowly perform ankle dorsiflexion and plantarflexion exercises (hook and tuck exercises) once a day in each direction with slow pulling to a slightly painful range for 30 seconds after the cast is removed or with the brace removed. Apply ice for 20 minutes immediately after passive joint motion exercises. Adjacent muscle strength can be increased with resistance knee extension exercises: sitting on the edge of the bed with the knee flexed and protected by an ankle brace, actively straighten the knee to the minimally painful range for 5 seconds and then relax, 10 sets/group, 2-3 sets/day.
