Yunnan Baiyao is a famous Yunnan proprietary Chinese medicine, the main ingredient of which is Yunnan Panax ginseng, which is effective in removing blood stasis and stopping bleeding, activating blood circulation and relieving pain, detoxifying and reducing swelling. Yunnan Baiyao has no side effects according to the prescribed dosage, but it varies from person to person. The main side effects of overdose of Yunnan Baiyao are dizziness, headache, palpitation, nausea, vomiting, chest tightness, chest pain, numbness of the tongue and limbs, decrease in blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, bradycardia, atrioventricular block, renal failure, allergic rashes, and abdominal pain. Analyzing 38 patients who developed side effects after using Yunnan Baiyao, allergic reactions were predominantly manifested as anaphylaxis (26.3%) and rash (15.8%), and digestive system reactions accounted for 7.9%, which were mainly manifested as nausea, vomiting, and gastric hemorrhage. Reactions in the genitourinary system were mainly acute renal failure, urinary incontinence and hematuria, and reactions in the blood system were dominated by hemolysis.
