How to Treat Monkeypox Disease

Monkeypox is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by monkeypox virus infection in humans. The main principle of the treatment of monkeypox is to strengthen the general treatment and medication in order to reduce the symptoms, prevent and control the complications. 1. General treatment: after monkeypox infection in humans, there will be fever, fatigue, headache, myalgia, generalized blisters, pustules, swollen lymph nodes and so on. Enhanced rest, nutritional support and necessary protective measures are needed. Pay attention to protect the skin cleanliness of the lesions to avoid secondary infection. 2. Drug treatment: at present, there is no specific antiviral drug for monkeypox virus, and drug treatment is mainly symptomatic. If there is high fever, ibuprofen, acetaminophen and other antipyretic drugs can be given; blister rupture secondary infection, need to give antibiotic treatment, such as topical erythromycin ointment, oral amoxicillin and so on; timely rehydration to maintain the balance of water and electrolytes. Monkeypox infection should be actively treated, the use of drugs need to follow the doctor’s instructions.
