The vast majority of causes of otoliths are idiopathic, also called primary, and can be interpreted as a form of aging, just as hair falls out when you get older, but a few patients can suffer from vertigo due to head trauma, viral labyrinthitis, Meniere’s disease, low activity, vascular embolism, inadequate blood supply, as well as ear disease and ear surgery.
