Typical manifestations of otoliths

The scientific name for otoliths is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. As the name suggests, paroxysmal means recurrent attacks, and positional means that the attacks occur only when the body position changes, usually manifesting as movements such as turning over from side to side, getting up, lying down or tilting the head down, so most patients have attacks when they get up in the middle of the night or get up in the morning. Vertigo is a sensation of spinning in the sky. It typically occurs a few seconds after a change in position and usually lasts for a short time, from a few seconds to a few dozen seconds. The dizziness disappears soon after holding a position.
