The efficacy of simmering leucaena and rehmannia together in water is to cool the blood to stop bleeding, clear heat and fire, and produce fluids to quench thirst. However, their effects are limited and generally fall short of the therapeutic effect.
Radix Bupleurum officinale is used in treating hemorrhagic syndromes such as epistaxis (nosebleed), haemoptysis, blood in urine, haemorrhagic gonorrhea (the appearance of blood in urine accompanied by pain), gonorrhea due to heat and toxicity (increase in the frequency of urination, drenching and astringent pain), oedema, jaundice due to damp-heat, stomach-heat, vomiting and lung-heat, cough and asthma. It is forbidden to be taken by those who have cold spleen and stomach, and those who have too much food without thirst.
Rehmannia glutinosa is used for treating fever and thirst, vomiting with stomach heat, cough with lung heat, spitting pus in lung carbuncle (lung abscess), and astringent pain in hot drenching (burning and stinging pain in urination, accompanied by frequent urination and urgent urination, and discomfort of pulling in the abdomen). Caution should be exercised if the spleen and stomach are cold.
After boiling and drinking water together, if there is any discomfort, it is recommended to stop using it and consult a doctor in time.
