The mother point of the Liver meridian is the Ququan point. The liver is wood, and the mother of wood is water, so the mother point of the liver meridian should be a water point on the liver meridian. The points used are those in the Five Transmission Points. The five transfer points of the Liver meridian are the well point Dadun, the Xingxing point Xingmai, the transfer point Taichong, the meridian point Zhongfeng, and the meridian point Quchuan. Because the well point of the yin meridian is of wood, and so on, the Xing point is of fire, the Transfusion point is of earth, the Meridian point is of gold, and the Harmonization point is of water. Therefore, the mother point of the Liver meridian is the Ququan point. Ququan point is located in the back of the knee, popliteal transverse stripe medial end of the semitendinosus tendon of the inner edge of the depression, can treat menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, postpartum abdominal pain and other gynecological diseases, but also can be treated hernia, spermatorrhea, knee and patella swelling and pain.
