Retinal detachment is a very serious fundus disease. Once it occurs and is left untreated, it can eventually lead to serious consequences such as blindness and atrophy of the eye. The recovery of vision after retinal detachment surgery is related to the following factors: (1) how long the retinal detachment has been undergoing surgery; (2) whether the macular spot area has been detached; (3) whether the patient has any complications; (5) whether gas or oil was injected into the eye during the surgery and other eye diseases such as cataract or diabetic retinopathy; (4) whether there were other complications during or after the surgery; (5) whether there were other complications during or after the surgery. (5) whether gas or oil was injected into the eye during the surgery; so it varies from person to person, usually from a few weeks to two or three months. What should I pay attention to after retinal detachment surgery? (1) After the surgery, it is important to keep the eyelids clean, avoid bruising, and keep drops and follow-up appointments on schedule. If gas is injected, the surgeon will instruct the patient to remain in a certain position (e.g., facing down) for at least two weeks and not to travel by air for six to eight weeks. Heavy lifting should be avoided for the first one to two months. (2) After retinal detachment surgery, it is noted that patients should come to the hospital for regular review. If there is a flashing sensation or sparkle flickering in front of the eyes, they are instructed to go to the hospital immediately for dilated pupil examination of the fundus to detect the site and degree of retinal lesion at an early stage and provide timely treatment to prevent the occurrence of retinal detachment again. (3) After retinal detachment surgery, pay attention to increase coarse fiber food, eat more fresh vegetables, fruits and appropriate amount of pig liver, etc. Avoid smoking, forbid drinking alcohol, eat less or no stimulating food, keep bowel movement smooth, develop the habit of regular bowel movement, and avoid excessive forceful bowel movement to ensure sufficient nutrition for eye recovery and prevent the occurrence of retinal detachment again. (4) Some patients think that the hospital bedding and hospital gowns are not in line with their own hygiene habits as they take turns to use them, so they are eager to carry out personal hygiene rectification after returning home. When discharged from the hospital, pay attention to ask them to wash their hair in a supine position with the help of their family members or go to a barbershop, rinse gently, and protect their eyes, do not make strenuous head movements, keep warm, prevent coughing and cold, and apply their tongue to the palate when they cough or sneeze vigorously to prevent the occurrence of retinal detachment again. After discharge from the retinal detachment surgery, everything is not fine. It is still necessary to review frequently, cooperate closely, read books and watch TV appropriately, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, avoid excessive use of eyes, and ensure the quality of sleep; prevent eye trauma, pay attention to cherish and protect the recovered vision, and ensure the efficacy of surgery.
