How many days to be discharged from the hospital after stoma retrieval surgery cannot be generalized, it is usually around 7 to 10 days, the exact time needs to be judged according to the actual situation of the patient.

Stoma retrieval surgery usually refers to: a retrieval surgery for patients with low rectal cancer about 3 months to 6 months after having colostomy surgery. Usually, when there is no infection after the surgery, the patient can be discharged from the hospital about 7 to 10 days after the surgery.

It may take up to 10 days, or even more, if the patient’s wound becomes infected as a result of improper care during the surgery.

Patients should pay attention to the control of water intake after surgery, excessive drinking may lead to increased intestinal fluid, causing irritation to the body and thus the phenomenon of infection; in the daily diet should be based on light, avoid eating too spicy and stimulating food; it is also not recommended to consume too much dietary fiber-rich vegetables and fruits in the early stage, in order to reduce peristalsis, and to promote the healing process.
