Symptoms of alcoholic cardiomyopathy include palpitations, rapid heartbeat, exertional dyspnea, fatigue and weakness, edema, oliguria, and nocturia. Alcoholic cardiomyopathy may present palpitations, rapid heartbeat, which is manifested by a pulse rate of 100~150 beats per minute, irregular heartbeat, and uncoordinated and chaotic fibrillation (ventricular fibrillation); exertional dyspnea, which is manifested by a feeling of breathlessness after physical labor; and weakness, which is manifested by the patient’s easy feeling of exertion. Some patients may also have edema, which is a depressed form of edema that tends to appear in the lower limbs, showing lightness in the morning and heaviness in the evening; and oliguria, increased nocturia, and other symptoms.
