Raw rhubarb has the effects of diarrhea, clearing heat and fire (removing heat and fire from the body), cooling the blood and detoxifying the toxin (treating blood-heat and toxin), etc. It is also used in the treatment of constipation. It is mainly used in treating stagnation and constipation, epistaxis due to blood-heat, redness of the eyes and swelling of the pharynx, sores and ulcers due to heat-poisoning, and burns.
