Are high neutrophils serious?

Neutrophil elevation itself is not obviously harmful, its severity depends on the disease that causes neutrophil elevation, partly more serious. The main causes of high neutrophils are physiologic and pathologic, and can be temporarily elevated in late pregnancy, strenuous exercise, and high temperatures. Pathology is mostly seen in the following diseases: 1. Acute infections: especially due to purulent cocci infections such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. 2. severe tissue injury and blood cell destruction: extensive burns, after major surgery, acute myocardial infarction, etc. 3. Acute hemorrhage. 4. Acute poisoning: diabetic ketoacidosis, uremia, acute chemical and heavy metal poisoning. 5. Leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms: chronic myeloid leukemia, true erythrocytosis. All these diseases should be highly valued and can be life-threatening without active treatment. High neutrophils are not typical, and do not tend to be an indicator of a certain disease, you can consult your doctor, or follow the doctor’s instructions for further examination to comprehensive consideration.
