How to treat diabetic ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis is one of the serious acute complications of diabetes mellitus, and its treatment focuses on prevention and early diagnosis and treatment. First of all, prevention treatment, diabetic patients should control blood glucose as much as possible to meet the standard and keep blood glucose stable for a long time, for insulin treatment patients should not stop insulin or reduce the amount of insulin at will, and prevent cold and other infection triggers in ordinary life. In case of simple diabetic ketosis, if the symptoms of acidosis and dehydration are not obvious, the main thing is to stop the oral hypoglycemic drugs and start insulin therapy as soon as possible or adjust the insulin dosage based on the original insulin dosage to keep the blood glucose stable and give oral and intravenous rehydration treatment, and give anti-infection treatment in time if the infection is combined. If the symptoms of acidosis are more severe and the infection is more serious, intravenous insulin is needed for continuous glucose-lowering treatment and timely rehydration therapy to restore effective blood volume and renal perfusion as soon as possible. The amount and rate of rehydration should be decided according to the degree of dehydration, age, heart, lung, kidney and other organ functions of the patient. Mild acidosis does not require alkaline rehydration therapy, but if the acidosis is severe, when the pH value is less than 7.0 then small doses of alkaline rehydration therapy can be administered. In addition, there are also treatments for complications and comorbidities, such as anti-infection, acid suppression and gastric protection, so diabetic ketoacidosis should be treated as early as possible once it appears, and the prognosis is also very good for early treatment.
