CSII intensive therapy, or insulin infusion intensive therapy, is a treatment for people with diabetes.
Intensive insulin infusion therapy is one of the most important methods of intensive glycemic control and refers to the continuous subcutaneous infusion of insulin through the use of an insulin pump on top of lifestyle interventions.
Intensive CSII therapy can rapidly relieve hyperglycemic toxicity, restore cellular function and improve insulin receptor sensitivity, resulting in rapid blood glucose attainment. However, the exact effect varies from person to person and should be chosen under the guidance of a doctor.
According to the Chinese guidelines for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, for newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes or with obvious symptoms of hyperglycemia, short-term insulin infusion intensive treatment is an option. However, attention should be paid to the contraindications to its use. It is not suitable for the elderly, those with high risk of hypoglycemia, short life expectancy or those with serious chronic diseases.
