How long does it take to recover from an intramedullary nail in a thigh fracture

After thigh fracture intramedullary nail fixation, it usually takes about half a year to one year to fully recover. Thigh fracture, i.e. femoral stem fracture, is mostly caused by violence, often due to poor alignment and poor stability of the fracture ends, requiring timely surgical treatment, and most of them will take the internal fixation surgery of incisional reduction intramedullary nailing. After intramedullary nail fixation of femoral stem fracture, the fracture end will gradually form a fibrous connection in about two weeks, and the fibrous bone scab can be gradually formed in more than 4 weeks. It takes at least two months for the scab to become visible on radiographs. It takes at least six months to one year for the fracture to heal completely. In some patients, there may be delayed healing or non-union of the bone for various reasons, in which case the complete healing of the fracture will take relatively longer. In the case of femoral stem fracture, it is necessary to go to the regular hospital in time for consultation and treatment, and do not treat it on your own, so as not to delay the condition.
