Accurate Location and Function of Tian Ding Acupuncture Points

The Tian Ding point is located on the Hand Yangming Large Intestine meridian. It is in the neck, at the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscles on both sides, and flat cricoid cartilage (about the level below the laryngeal node). It has the effects of clearing the throat, regulating Qi, and softening and dispersing knots (softening and dissipating hard lumps). Tian Ding acupoint can be used to treat scrofula (lymph node tuberculosis), gall tumors (goiter), plum nucleus qi, sore throat, tonsillitis, difficulty in swallowing, hoarseness and other conditions. Compatibility: Tian Ding acupoint can be used with Zhaohai acupoint to treat chronic pharyngitis; with Hegu and Chengjian to treat early vocal cord paralysis; with Hegu, Lianquan and Tiantu to treat sore throat and tonsillitis; and with Diaphragm Yu and Qishe to treat dysphagia. Note that acupuncture needs to be operated by a professional practitioner, and should not be operated arbitrarily on its own.
