Chinese herbal formulas for treating dampness-heat include Qing Xin Lian Zi Drink, Paeoniae Alba Soup and San Ren Tang. 1. Qing Xin Lian Zi Drink is mainly composed of Maimendong, Scutellaria baicalensis, Plantago asiatica, Stone Lotus Meat, Bone Skin of the Earth, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Poria cocos, etc. It has the efficacy of benefiting qi and yin, clearing the fire of the heart, and stopping gonorrhea. It can be used in cases of qi and yin deficiency (deficient in qi and yin fluids), excessive fire of the heart, and dampness-heat subluxation (the evils of dampness and heat encroaching upon the intestinal tract, urinary bladder, yin, and the lower limbs), and the symptoms of which can be seen in hematuria with subluxation, lassitude of the limbs, and semen discharge and gonorrhea. Avoid eating spicy and greasy food during the use of this formula. 2. Paeoniae Radix Tang is composed of Angelica Sinensis, Betel nut, Rhubarb, Paeoniae Radix, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis, Rhizoma Coptidis, Guan Gui, and Mucuna Pruriens. It has the efficacy of regulating Qi and harmonizing Blood, clearing away heat and drying out Dampness (clearing away heat and drying out Dampness). It can be clinically used in the treatment of damp-heat dysentery (dysentery caused by damp-heat evil), with symptoms such as pus and blood in stool, redness and whiteness, burning in the anus, abdominal pain, urgency and heaviness in the abdomen (discomfort in the lower abdomen, eagerness to defecate, and feeling of incomplete defecation after defecation), and short and reddish urination (small amount of urination, dark yellow in color), etc. This formula can be used for the treatment of dysentery at the beginning of the disease. This formula should not be used for patients with superficial symptoms at the beginning of dysentery. 3. San Ren Tang is composed of Fei Slippery Stone, Hou Pu, Apricot Kernel, Cardamom Kernel, Bai Tong Cao and Job’s Tears, etc. It has the effect of clearing dampness and heat, and promoting the flow of Qi. This formula is not suitable for patients whose heat is more important than dampness.
