The formula of Nourishing Water and Clearing Liver Drink includes Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum, Mudanpi, Poria, Ze Xie Diarrhea, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Gardenia Jasminoides, Zao Zao Ren, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Achyranthes Bidentatae. Nourishing Yin and nourishing Blood (nourishing the blood in the body), clearing heat and dredging the liver are the effects of Nourishing Water and Clearing Liver Drink. It is suitable for symptoms such as chest and hypochondrium distension and pain caused by deficiency of Yin and depression of the liver, deafness and tinnitus, lumbar and knee soreness and tenderness (a feeling of soreness and weakness of waist and knees), dryness of the mouth and bitterness of the mouth, dried and knotty stools, dizziness of the eyes and the head, night sweats of bone vapors (sweating abnormally after falling asleep and stopping when waking up), blurred vision, spermatorrhea, dream ejaculation, red tongue with scanty coating, and fine-stringed pulse. This formula is flavored on the basis of Six-flavored Di Huang Pill, in which “three tonic and three diarrhea” nourish the liver and kidney, fill in the marrow (replenish the essence and promote the development of bone marrow), with white peony, chai hu, angelica sinensis, gardenia, jujube seed to dredge the liver and nourish the blood, and clear away heat and astringe the yin.
