There is no best conservative treatment for kidney stones. For stones with a diameter of less than 0.6 centimeters, conservative treatment can be carried out, including general treatment and medication, while lithotripsy and surgery can be considered for larger diameter kidney stones. When the diameter of kidney stones is less than 0.6 cm, the main conservative treatment is to increase the amount of drinking water, repeated urination, more jumping exercise, to promote the discharge of stones, but also with oral tamsulosin and other drugs, which can make the lower part of the ureteral smooth muscle relaxation, conducive to the discharge of stones. When the diameter of the kidney stone is larger than 0.6 cm, it may not be able to be discharged by itself, and it is easy to be stuck at the end of the ureter. In this case, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy should be considered, and for the stone with a diameter of more than 1.2 cm, or if the effect of extracorporeal lithotripsy is unsatisfactory, surgical treatment can be carried out, such as ureteral lithotripsy with flexible mirror lithotripsy. During the treatment, you should follow the doctor’s instructions, safe and reasonable use of medication, do not arbitrarily treat yourself to avoid causing serious complications.
